The inaugural Artability-sponsored solo exhibition was a meaningful and successful event, drawing approximately 50 attendees despite severe weather. The two-hour reception created a warm, celebratory atmosphere for artist Jane Gerus and her work. Jane delivered a deeply moving artist talk, sharing her lived experience with schizophrenia and substance use disorder and how art has served as a powerful coping tool and source of expression. The audience response was overwhelmingly supportive, and Jane later shared that she “felt like she was floating.”
The venue, Flux Arts in Northeast Minneapolis, was the perfect fit for Gerus’ work—providing display space for dozens of pieces and room for attendees to mingle.
