We Grieve With the Community Over the Loss of George Floyd

Jun 4, 2020

We grieve with the family of George Floyd and send our heartfelt condolences for this tragic loss. Additionally, we embrace and support our many community members who have lost businesses, homes, and a sense of safety.

People Incorporated grieves with our community as we process collectively the horrific events of the past week. As a community mental health provider, we are comprehensively aware of the trauma that exists in our community, particularly in communities of color and in other historically marginalized groups. We will never waver in our commitment to dignity, respect, and acceptance of individuals regardless of race, disability, sexuality, religion, socioeconomic status, or country of origin. We will not tolerate discrimination, harassment or violence that targets any individual or cohort, and we support the application of justice.

We must all play a part in safeguarding against tragedies and loss like that which we have recently experienced. With that said, we also recognize that our organization’s mission calls us to continue to listen to the suffering of those experiencing trauma and carry out our work for those we serve in a manner that effects positive change. Our indignation regarding injustice and inequality should act as the powerful catalyst that calls us to action.

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is committed to the important work of serving our most vulnerable. We are also committed to our role in establishing solutions that uphold accountability for our community and country to model trust, inclusivity, and respect.
